First time to a new city

Last weekend (Sept 7/8) I visited Nagoya for the first time.

A friend was holding a wedding ceremony there. In my 22 years in Japan I had never been to Nagoya before.

I parked my car at Sendai airport and flew to the new Chubu airport in just over an hour.

I then took a train to the central Nagoya station. This station was HUGE. I wasn't expecting such a large terminal station. There were so many people and I had to walk for ages until I got to the exit that I wanted.

I found my hotel and left my big bags in my room and went back out to search for some shops. The subway network was also much bigger than I imagined but luckily I asked the station staff if there was a day-ticket to make travelling cheaper.

There was and I also found an easy to understand subway map. The staions and lines were colored and numbered so it wasn't difficult to go where I wanted. I found the two shops I wanted to visit and got back to the hotel before I had to meet some other friends.

If I hadn't had a sisth-sense for travel I would never have been able to do all this in the short time I had. If this was my first time to travel somewhere new, I would have made so many mistakes and wasted so much time and money.

So ... keep travelling to many different places and increase your sixth sense for travel!!
